(How) Can We Be Brave?
I work with operational and commercial leaders across food and fiber systems who can feel that something is not working economically, ecologically, or relationally, but are still responsible for delivering value inside it. Together, we realign incentives so that integrity becomes a long-term impact.
When change efforts fail, it is not typically due to lack of care - it is the result of systems expecting people to act against their own constraints. The work I offer starts by identifying these limitations (such as targets, capital flows, regulation, time pressure, land health, and organizational expectations) and bringing them into clear view, so that we can understand how they influence decisions and outcomes, and realign what gets rewarded and how.
You are not the problem. The design of the system is. We can change that.
The structural layer. Contracts, standards, capital flows, regulation. The invisible architecture that influences and constrains behavior.
Decisions and actions that match our values and beliefs. When what we do for land health does not heighten commercial pressure. When our personal courage does not come up against organizational constraints.
Outcomes that come from alignment between stated ambition and operational reality. Not reports. Not frameworks. Real consequences in soil, health, livelihoods, markets, and emissions.
The work ahead is not about complication and fear.
It is about coherence, courage, and disciplined action.
Over the past decade, I've worked across the arc of the food system, from orchards and packhouses in regional Aotearoa to retail markets in Asia, Europe and now, North America. I've led climate transition planning under emerging regulation, worked alongside growers navigating viability pressure as they implement emerging innovations, and supported executive teams balancing compliance, reputation and commercial reality to meet global customer expectations.
In 2025, I stepped out of a global corporate role to learn and connect more deeply across people and place. Spending time with producers, researchers, in indigenous communities, with investors and entrepreneurs. I've deepened a decade's worth of learning into a clearer map of what blocks regenerative intent, and how to make impact within real, global and local businesses.
